In tune with ‘Small is Beautiful and Bountiful’, the farsighted entrepreneur Mr. S. N Gupta set up a proprietorship firm in 1977 to manufacture just two pesticide formulations. In due course, the seeds sown by him sprouted and the tiny company, Bharat Insecticides (Now Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd) grew to be among the leaders in the industry of pesticides.
Under the stewardship of Mr. S. N Gupta, Mr. M. P Gupta and Mr. R. P Gupta, it was converted into a public limited company and since then the company never looked back. Currently, the profile and track record of the company are listed in Dun-7 and Bradstreet Global Database.
In September 2020, Bharat Insecticides Ltd got associated with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui" Head Office: Tokyo) and Nippon Soda Co., Ltd., (“Nisso”, Head Office: Tokyo). Mitsui and Nisso have acquired majority stake in the company through a special purpose company co- founded by Nisso and Mitsui and the new entity Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd is a group company of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The new relationship with Mitsui and Nisso will further strengthen Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd.’s ability to deliver innovative crop protection products and support the sustainable growth of India’s agriculture sector.
The company has two manufacturing plants, located at Bahadurgarh that comes under Delhi NCR and Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir. Both the units are equipped with latest processing technology and function as per appropriate safety and environmental norms in spacious buildings with in-house R&D laboratories and also pilot plant facilities for assessing new products.
The company has assigned top most priority to the safety, security, health and welfare of its 700-strong workforce. On the domestic front, Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd. has a nationwide network of 26 warehouses, more than 4000 distributors, and 22000 dealers. Experts from the company periodically advise the farmers on latest trends in pest management.
